OME override existing SNMP Agent Community String during discovering
Current 4.2(also earlier versions) overiding an existing SNMP Agent Community string when a discovering job runs and you tick the check box "Set Community String for trap destination from Application Settings". The first one works end sets current IP of your OME as SNMP Trap receiver. The second doesnt work as expected.
The receiver needs an community string which needs to match with your OME one if you would like to receive SNMP Traps. So its a good option in general.
but it'll set the Trap community string as well as the one for the SNMP Agent. The iDRAC have 2 independed configuration option for these values.
We use 2 different community strings because we manage "foreign" devices. This is an unwanted and for sure an unexpected behavior.
Workaround: run an racadm command and set the needed SNMP Trap receiver manually:
racadm -r myidrac.acme.local-u root -p "calvin" set iDRAC.IPMILan.CommunityName acmepublic
