Dell Command | Endpoint Configure for Microsoft Intune 2.0.3.217 - Install problem this version
HiI'm having trouble installing this version of DCECMI 2.0.3.217 on about 20% of my laptop fleet.
Installation via Intune and locally ends with an error:
Application does not have permission to access log directory.
The installation will exit.
the log shows that the problem is here:
1: SYSTEM user does not have Modify permission on ProgramData\Dell or ProgramData\Dell\EndpointConfigure directory. The installation will exit.
I checked that the SYSTEM user has permissions to these locations, after running PSTools as system I can save files there, running the installation of DCECMI 2.0.3.217 locally as the SYSTEM user also ends with this error.
I'm asking for help. Is this a problem with this version? I noticed that it has a new section that interrupts my installation --> CheckDirPermissions

The previous version, 2.0.2.178, installs on all laptops in my Dell fleet – 100% successful installations.
In the new version, 2.0.3.217, after looking at the IsConfig.ini file, I see that the CheckDirectoryPermissions function is new and causes installation problems on about 20% of the laptops in our Dell fleet.
The SYSTEM user has all permissions for the specified folders, so the question is what exactly this function checks?
I'm posting a screenshot comparing the IsConfig.ini files for both versions:

This issue affects most of my company's computer systems, so I'm reverting to the previous version for now.
Have you found a solution?

I have raised a ticket at Dell support. They are working on that.
The MSI table also shows the new f4 function, which causes the issue.
I am really wondering, how that software installation package was able to pass the QA process.
Fun fact: We are using German OS image for Windows 11. It seems they have an issue in their "CheckPermissions" query, because it works on English (US) operating systems (tested it today). Can someone confirm this?

@Rene Scheruebl You're right, the OS language is key
In my case, we have a mixed fleet of Dell laptops - en-US [80%] and pl-PL [20%]
and I check this today:
on laptops with OS in en-US language the installation is successful
The problem with installing the new version DCECMI 2.0.3.217 occurs on laptops in the pl-PL language

@MariuszVSoft thanks for confirmation. I'm in constant contact with Dell because I have an open case. I've also shared my findings regarding the OS language with Dell to expedite the resolution process. Hopefully, a working installer will be released soon. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, I got the feedback from Dell Support, that a new release is available on May, 13th 2026. Stay tuned. :-)

We are still getting this error when attempting to install version 2.0.4 version across all of our Intune devices.
