adding another EQL to an existing group
hi there,
We have a single PS4100 and are planning to add another member to the group.
I will make sure they are both on the same firmware.
I was just wondering if the PS4100 should be added to the "default" storage pool or should I create a separate storage to managed the placement of data.
If I do not add a separate pool will the equallogic automatically move the "busy" data blocks onto the faster storage?
Cheers for any advice.

Hi Donald,
Thanks for replying.
Currently we have a PS4100, raid 50 with 24x900 disks. Firmware is v6.0.8
We are looking to add a PS4100X with 12x900. We're undecided on whether to go raid 10 or 50.

I'm in a very similar situation to Huwy. I have an existing PS4100 array (fully loaded 24 TB, R10, FW v6.0.8) and would like to add a new member (PS6210e fully loaded 96TB) to the existing group. Do you foresee any problems that I might run into during this process, and would you suggest that I proceed the same way that you recommended Huwy with regard to initial config and default storage?

An important fact that I didn't mention was that I want to add the 6210 to the existing 4100 group in order to increase the currently available hard drive space. Iin order to add additional space, the members need to be in the same pool, correct? Do the Raid levels need to be the same also?
