Removing an array from a group

We currently have 3 PS5000X SANs in Virtual RAID 5 configuration. We are trying to come up with the most cost effective way to replicate. Is it possible to remove one array from the current group? We've recently purchased a PS6000X and would like to group it with one of the PS5000's that would be removed from the current group, then replicate from on group to the other. Is this feasible or even advisable? If so, how do we go about removing the SAN from the current group without breaking our existing data stores? Thanks for the help.

Hi Gio4,
Congrats on your new PS6000X. To answer your questions, yes, it is feasable/advisable to remove one of the PS5000's from the group, provided you have enough space on the other members to take over for it. The method to evacuate the member of the data is actually the 'delete member' from the GUI. It is non-disruptive to the applications accessing the array that is being evacuated from the group -- If you try to evacuate the PS5000 (delete member ) and there's not enough free space in the pool then it will block that action.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jeff!
We do actually have the space available. The current group supplies the data stores for our VMware environment, as well as all of our shared files, databases, etc. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to create a bad day by removing an array. I was relatively certain that it had to be as simple to remove a member from the group as it was to add, but had no idea how to do it.

Thanks again for the help.

Mark

I've actually done it. It's so simple and easy. No problems at all.
