Dell Inspiron 3030 desktop Ram

Hi, does desktop support dual channel ram? Mine comes with 16gb ram 5600mt/s secured with white clips but has a another empty slot with black clips.

for Dell 3000 series, there are only two DIMM slots.  never mind their color.  If you install two identical ram same spec (does not have to be same memory maker or model), it will be dual channel.  if different spec, single channel.

to guarantee dual channel success, get matched pair.

PS with two DIMM slot model, default is white: slot 1 Channel A, black slot 1 Channel B

in other Dell desktop that has 4 DIMM slots, white is for slot 1 of Channel A and B, black for slot 2 of Channel A and B.

the 3030 (Intel 14th gen cpu) is a quite new model and the part list has not yet come out.

I found out it uses DDR5 memory in contrast to its immediate predecessor 3020 which used DDR4 memory.
OP you can use your 3030 service tag to look up original 1x16 GB ram in your pc.

to look up original spec

I predict your ram has this part number: 4N59R
the ram on Dell website mentions: Manufacturer part SNP4N59RC/16G
this matches my research result
I find this Dell oem from Inspiron 3030 small desktop which I believe uses same ram as 3030 tower
4N59R

pricewise it may be better deal to find 4N59R DDR5 on third party if available in your country (Ireland?)

in US we often go on eBay or Amazon to search for oem ram using original memory maker model number.  price often beats Dell premium.

Dell uses same DDR5 ram 4N59R in Aurora R16 etc.  this is the Dell oem part deployment convention

4N59R 16GB, DDR5, 5600MHz, 2Gx64, Unbuffered, Single rank, Non-ECC, 288 pin
Samsung M323R2GA3DB0-CWM
Hynix HMCG78AGBUA

Re: However the image doesn't look right to me. The bottom cut out mini semi circle looks to be off center in the image but my ram has that  mini semi circle cut on in the center.

the image on Dell website is sample pic often not the image of actual ram.  the DP/N is the more reliable key

@redxps630 I appreciate the information. Thank you

Just wondering, not sure if you checked the link but that one basically has same spec and indicates in the description that it works for my desktop. However the image doesn't look right to me. The bottom cut out mini semi circle looks to be off center in the image but my ram has that  mini semi circle cut on in the center.

For peace of mind I would rather buy the dell option but I'm not sure what to think of that cut out being in the wrong place. Is there any other brands you'd suggest me to try if this isn't an option?
