Inspiron 3030, S3225QS, no resolutions higher than 1920x1080

I have an Inspiron 3030 with a Dell S3225QS monitor. After completing a reinstall of Windows 11, the highest resolution is 1902 X 1080. How do I fix that?

right after clean Win 11 install the OS typically uses basic Microsoft video driver.  you just need to connect pc to internet, which is required during install unless you imaged the ssd or bypassed the internet requirement using OOBE/BYPASSNRO.

Windows 11 will automatically install UHD770 driver for integrated video of cpu in 3030.

Assuming you only have an on-board Intel video card (IGP) ...

After Windows Update tosses you the Intel Video driver and the "Intel Graphics Software" App

    1. run the App once

    2. Be sure Device Manager is clean

    3. In Settings/System/Display/ be sure the monitor is detected and set to it's (full) native resolution. If too small, you use the Scaling control.

Which type of connection you used?  The HDMI port may be limited.  Use the DisplayPort for 4K resolution.

You will need to install the video drivers -- which one, depends on whether your system has integrated or discrete video.

@ejn63 Following your suggestion, I updated the drivers but unfortunatley it didn't help.

Graphic drive is 770.  I believe the problem has to do with when I used multiple displays and the second one was limited to 1920 x 1080.  And it seems to be stuck on that one.

OP connects two 4k monitors to DP and hdmi of Inspiron integrated video ports. No discrete gpu

only the DP port supports 4k

the hdmi port is 1.4b and can only support 1900x1200 max, limited as chino has already mentioned

    Video
    • One DisplayPort 1.4a port
    • One HDMI 1.4b port (1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz max resolution)

to have two 4k monitor support use a gt 1030 video card that has two DP ports.

This is the same with Inspiron 3020.

    Hey @shea114

We will need to use the DisplayPort port to achieve a higher resolution, as the maximum resolution that is supported by the HDMI 1.4b port is 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz.

If we are using the DP port, but still experiencing the issue, please update me regarding the following information.

•Does the system have a discrete GPU?

•What BIOS version is the system on?

•What all devices do we have connected to the system?

•Does the issue occur with an alternate monitor?
*You can use a 4k TV if you do not have another monitor, but the DisplayPort will still need to be used.*

•Are any video cable adapters being used?
