Question about Inspiron 3030 NVME slot
I am considering getting a Dell Inspiron 3030(full size version) with a Core i3-14100 processor at a local store. I plan to switch out the pre-installed NVME drive with a Samsung 1TB 990 pro with heatsink, upgrade to RAM to 64gb, and add a 8TB Western Digital Blue 3.5” hard drive. I viewed the service manual in the support page of the Dell website but it doesn’t seem to list what Generation the M.2 slot is. I am trying to get a Desktop with a Gen 4 slot so I can take full advantage of the Samsung drive.

B660
64-bit
32 MB
Up to Gen 3.0
the PCIe bus is Gen 3 per 3030 manual
B660 chipset is supposed to provide up to 6 gen 4 and up to 8 gen 3 pcie lanes. not sure why Dell has no gen 4 lane.

Pretty strange they would put modern DDR5 RAM slots but not include PCIe 4.0. And I also found out that the three different NVME drives they use for the Inspirion 3030 series are all Gen 4 drives. It makes me wonder if the manual doesn't have all the correct information.

Dell external manual has error all the time. It is better to benchmark your own ssd in Dell PC to find out.
