White Screen on power up, solid white power button
Hello!
Ive searched for posts issue but they all seem to be just different enough that they havnt helped.
I have an Inspiron 24 5488 AiO. At one point, the screen would wash over with the white. Not like flicked all white and back, but like the white was burning across the screen. There was some flickering, but again, not back and forth from picture to blank white screen. It happened a couple of times but either stopped or went away after a power cycle.
Then it just washed over with white and never gave me the picture back again. I tried connecting via HDMI to my TV and it after pressing the button above the power button it would go black, nothing on the TV, then go back to the white screen.
The power button stays white, and it does beep, but not like I have heard looking around on youtube and such. There is a high-low tone that plays one time and then nothing but a white screen. I cannot find that same beep anywhere else. I have tried the LCD diagnostic boot up which gave me a black screen instead of white (i think, i dont know if i did it right). Nothing came of that either.
Im at a loss. Id like to fix it if possible but I do not currently even know where to begin.
Thank you!
Cody

Hold the D key through powerup - it should initiate a series of self-test screens. Do these appear OK or are the also white-out?
If the screen shows all white during the diagnostics, it needs to be replaced.

Does this work with wireless keyboards? Just making sure because I have seen the D key suggestion for laptops but not the All in One.
Thank you for your time!

The all-in-one systems have the built in self test, same as for notebooks. I don't see why a wireless keyboard wouldn't initiate the test.

Well, if it does initiate any tests I wouldn't know. Screen just stays white the whole time.
So you are thinking the screen itself is bad? Not the gpu or something? I'd like to know your thought process if you don't mind. I'm trying to learn more about computers.

Solid white power button means it successfully completed the POST and handed control over to Windows.
Did you accidentally change the video input setting to HDMI-IN so it's expecting a video signal from a game box, DVD player, etc?
Power on and at white screen, press the button (#3) directly above the power button on right edge of the screen. You may have to press it and wait ~1-2 sec, and press again and wait, if you don't see anything displayed. At least one of that button's settings should turn the LCD panel off completely, so that gives you an indication of how many times you've pressed the button and will indicate that button is working.
If that doesn't help, connect a TV or external monitor to the HDMI-OUT port (#2) and see if you get anything displayed on the external screen. (Note: You might have to press the button above power button to select the external monitor.)
And if still no go, try booting from a bootable USB stick with either the Win 10 or Win 11 installer on it, depending on which version of Windows you use. Plug the USB in with power fully off. Then power on and start tapping F12. Assuming the F12 menu appears, select the option to boot from USB. If that gives you video display, look for Troubleshooting and Repair options in the Windows installer, and see if they can fix the Windows installation...
