Dell G15 5511 only have 2 hour battery life

Dell G15 5511

Dell G15 5511

I had already bought this laptop like 3 months and I had made a mistake that I didn't test its battery life when I got it and now when I need to use it for school, my laptop just give me 2 hour of battery life just for doing PPT and Microsoft Word. I also do a clean install windows 10 on my latop but my alienware command center have issue, it cant enable the G mode, so I go to windows 11 to see can fix or not and it works ( but only can enable G mode, it still show 'No Supported AlienFX devices was detected' which I don't know why). So, now the problem I have is it just provide 2 hour of battery life sometimes 1 hour and a half only. Is there any solution for me, I have already seen all the dell support video on fixing battery life but it doesn't work at all.

ry changing the battery power settings to "better battery" and not power saver (I always found that drained more for some reason). Then in the Dell app choose the battery mode or "quiet mode."

Finally in the Nvidia GeForce (might have to download this) and Display settings (right click on desktop and choose Nvidia) app choose battery life deep in the settings somewhere.

Then try again.

If you do anything more intensive than watching a YouTube video on battery it will drain much faster.

2.5 hours is what I've seen the battery can last while playing GAMES.

These are available with 3 and 6 cell batteries -- if you have the former, you probably are never going to do better than 2-3 hours from a charge.  And even with a 6-cell battery, the primary purpose of these systems is low-cost gaming, so you are not going to get day-long operation on battery power from any of them.

Which battery do you have?  The 6-cell likely can run 4-5 hours.  The 3 cell will never do that well.

But I saw many review about this laptop that will have at least 4 or 6 hours of battery life and this laptop is better on windows 10 or 11? (maybe 11 take more power?)

The next question would be, have you set the CPU speed as low as you can, and the display as dim as you can tolerate, along with disabling the nVidia GPU as much of the time as you can?  All three of those -- particularly the last two -- guzzle power and battery capacity.

I have set the display as dim as I can tolerate, but about setting the CPU speed and disabling nvidia GPU. I have no idea how to do it.

I just turn the battery saver on, lower screen brightness, enable battery extender(dell power manager), change the display from 165Hz to 60Hz.

If the system is set for power conservation, that should keep the nVidia GPU from running.

Type "power management" in the search box -- the power settings manager will show up so you can check the current power management status.
