Dell Inspiration keyboard not working after Win 11 2H25 update
My Dell Inspiration 7370 laptop keyboard stopped working after Win 11, 2H25 update. Some keys such as Ctrl, the Windows key and the arrow keys do work but not the alphabet & number keys. I have reinstalled 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' driver in Device Manager with no success. Anyone got any other suggestions. Thank you for your interest in my problem.

Does a keyboard diagnostic show the keys working or not?

Thanks for your reply, I have run the 'Dell SupportAssist' diagnostic and no issues were identified.

Assuming that means the keyboard did respond to the interactive test, it sounds like a clean install of Windows is in order.

I have already completed a full Windows 11 reinstall but this did not solve problem. I think it may be some driver other than keyboard that needs to be enabled or disabled ?

No driver other than the Windows default should be needed.

Well I think you may need to check the keyboard driver and see it is updated to it's latest version or not if it is outdated then update it to it's latest version.

As stated in original post keyboard drivers were uninstalled through 'Device manager' and laptop restarted installing latest driver with no success. At this stage all the obvious fixes and outlined on You Tube have been tried.

According to your dell Support page, Dell doesn't support windows 11 for your computer, no drivers or firmware.
Support for Inspiron 7370 | Drivers & Downloads | Dell US
I suspect that is the reason you are having problems with the keyboard. I would suggest going back to windows 10. Microsoft does provide 1 more year of window updates for most computers.
I also suggest going to Microsoft community forum to see if they can give you a fix to their window 11 keyboard problem.

Thank you for your suggestion, I can confirm that I have restored laptop to Windows 10 using factory reset and still no joy in getting a working keyboard. Hence I am baffle by what was changed by the Windows 11, 2H25 update. I had a similar keyboard problem with my backup HP laptop last year and the solution was to disable "Intel Integrated Sensor Solution" under System Devices in 'Device Manager'. Is there an equivalent device file for a Dell laptop as I cant seem to locate in Device Manager.

Before going to that, unplug the system and disconnect the battery from the mainboard. Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
That will reset the embedded controller chip in case there's corruption in it.
Reassemble the system and try the keyboard again.

Thank you for this suggestion, I tried this afternoon, removed back cover, disconnected battery from motherboard and held the power button for 30 secs, this did reset the controller but unfortunately did not solve the non responsive keyboard, fyi, the keyboard backlighting is working but no response from the alphabetic and numeric keys.

It's time to evaluate the system's worth ($50-100) against the cost of parts replacement - I suspect you'd need a mainboard, but it may be worth replacing the palmrest assembly first.
Either way, it may not be more expensive to look for a newer system than it is to try repairing this one. If an external keyboard does work, that's another possibility.

Many people have had serious issues after the past few Windows 11 updates, so that may be true in your case as well. Do you have a backup from before that update? If so, install the backup and see if that doesn't fix the issue. If it does, block the update until Microsoft gets it's stuff together. I've reached the point that I don't install any Windows updates until I've researched it online for reported issues.

Thank you for your suggestion, I have restored back to an image from approx 1 yr back with no success, I'm not convinced the keyboard is faulty as when I depress any key it turns on the back-lighting but no characters appears on screen. I'm still thinking its some System Manager setting.

Can you advise sequence for initiating a keyboard diagnostic test.
