Home and End key functionality?
New Inspiron 7386
Home key isn't working as any other home key on any other PC i've had
Can't find any user guides for Dell other than installation and specification
Ideally, Looking for some official, Dell documentation on all the keyboard functions. Or just help with making the home/end/up/down keys work
Help!

@newmarket2 judging by the product photo showing the keyboard layout, it appears that Home is on the left arrow key on that system, in which case it would be activated by holding the Fn key. Note that if you want to trigger actions like Ctrl+Home, I believe you have to start holding Ctrl before you start holding Fn, then press Home. If you start holding Fn before the other modifier key, it may not work — at least that’s been my experience on some other Dell systems. As for documentation, anything official would be available at support.dell.com. Enter your Service Tag and then go to the Manuals & Documents section.
@Mary G this system has no NumLock key because it has no number pad nor numpad functions printed on the letter keys.

Probably the Numlock Key is on. That toggles between functions. Press it to switch.

One of the reasons I asked for a user or keyboard guide...I see no NUMLOCK key on this keyboard

You are correct...I've confirmed that holding the CTRL key and tapping HOME works "normally" and solves my immediate problem.
As for documentation, I've spent way too much time on the Dell support site trying to find documentation covering this keyboard and have found nothing....so far.

These suggestions take me to the home/end of the entire document (Ctrl & Fn) or home/end of each word (Ctrl only). How do I get to the home/end of a sentence?

@hobsonstx I don't know of a keyboard shortcut for jumping by sentences. You can jump to the start or end of a line (Home/End) or a page (Ctrl+Home/End). And then using Ctrl+Left/Right you can jump the cursor between words, and at least in Word, using Ctrl+Up/Down will jump between paragraphs. Combining any of those with the Shift key will HIGHLIGHT selections that occur as a result of jumping the cursor in those ways. But I've never seen a keyboard shortcut for jumping between sentences.

Reference to https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Control-Home-Control-End-Keys/td-p/6212592
Dell has seemingly "decided" to not support Ctrl-Fn-Arrow keys as other laptop makers. In turn, I use an HP now and the Inspirion is disqualified for accounting or IT-developer use. As is the XPS by the way.
Using F-Keys requires to change them, making Fn-F11 Pos1 and Fn-F12 End. Whereas F11/F12 are not intuitive keys for speed typers using key-sequences. Being asked for status, I just looked up, and Dell hasn't solved that yet, still remains on the "not approved" hardware list.

Not solved. Non of these Solutions actually solve the problem. Home and End keys are required for my use and should be easily accessible. F11 and F12 Are required, and should be easily accessible. Number keys are required for productivity and the number pad must always have numlock on for my personal preference and productivity. Arrow Keys Should be full sized and easily Accessible. If it was not for the Fact that the device was purchased by my Company I would not be using a Dell for this very reason.

this is retarded design
for example, I use 3000€ laptop from DELL, wchich have F11 combined with HOME and F12 combined with END, same for PGUP/PGDN - combined with some other buttons...
REALLY DELL, fix this - computers are not only for browsing the internet, sometimes there is a professional user (dell precision is targeted for them???) who uses all the normal keys

You probably figured this out by now, but I had the same problem and finally found that if I hit fn-esc, the end home buttons returned to normal. Fn-esc locks the buttons into their F1-F12 use rather than the labeled use.

@RCAMER, I too have created an account just to thank you for this - I've been looking for an answer for some time, and you're the first to have answered it. Fixed based on your advice first time, thank you!
