I think that's been tried with this model and the answer is no, you cannot -- at least not without purchasing other parts (you'll need at least a new wiring harness, plus a new upper assembly if you're switching from non-touch to touchscreen). And even then, there have been reports of the upgrade failing.
You're better off replacing the screen with the same model it now has.
