I'm working on a laptop for a friend, who wasn't well versed in using the 1TB 2nd drive for storage - it's before she asked for help.  Anyway, the 128GB M.2 is acting up, and I ran DISM and SFC to correct any issues.  I also managed to update the BIOS from within setup, since the downloaded installer wouldn't work.  I even tried swapping the 128 for a 256GB, hoping that the OS Recovery Tool on a USB drive would work - it didn't.  The recovery utility in the BIOS fails, even though the laptop is wired to my LAN.  I had even removed the 1TB drive, thinking it might be a problem.  Since this laptop is 6 years old as of May 2026, I'm guessing she's going to have to give up on it.  At least she has her files in the "cloud", so someone must have helped her with that.

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the OS Recovery on that model?  I have successfully used it on other Dell computers.
