More than one monitore Dell Inspiron 15 3535

Hi all!

I recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron 15 3535 Ryzen 7. The laptop has a standard HDMI port, but I need to connect at least one additional monitor to extend the display across three screens: one from the laptop, one from the original HDMI port, and another through an alternative method.

I bought a simple and inexpensive multiport hub via USB-C, but it didn't work. It seems like I might need to buy a docking station. Is that true? If so, what docking station would work with my laptop? How can I be sure it will work?

Thanks.

If you purchase a docking station, be sure it has Displaylink support -- none of the USB ports on this model are natively video capable.  The other option would be a USB 3 displaylink adapter such as

@ejn63 someone from another forum mentioned that my laptop can't handle video output via USB. Are you saying that if I get a docking station or adapter with "DisplayLink," it will enable my laptop to send video even though the USB doesn't support it natively?

Yes.  A displaylink adapter is essentially a rudimentary video card -- once you load the drivers for it, it will allow video output over a USB port that otherwise doesn't support it.

Bear in mind the resolution limits of whatever displaylink adapter you purchase (and keep in mind that this is a budget system to begin with, so do not expect it to perform well with high resolution displays).
