Old Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 crashes with new RAM SODIMM Patriot Signature [PSD48G240081S] 8 GB
Decided to upgrade my old laptop with two 8gb memory sticks (had one 8gb stick), however when I boot it with either one or both sticks laptop freezes completely or bsods with different codes (had kmod exception not handled, system service exception and others i can't remember). But if i boot laptop with old+new stick, it works, i get 16gb ram, just not in dual. My motherboard doesn't support higher than 2400 and when i open bios with old+new ram setup, the speed is 2400, but if i boot it with new sticks it shows 3200, same in cpu-z and task manager. So my uneducated guess is, for some reason, the new sticks are standart 3200 (even though sold as 2400) and, for some reason, my laptop doesn't lower the ram speed of new sticks. Question is, is it some kind of wear and tear problem with my 7yo laptop? Is there any way to fix that?
Also, things changed since purchase: changed battery to the same type due to old battery malfunction, removed HDD, added my SSD (GUDGA GXF-PRO 1 Tb, guessing it also can be the reason for issues somehow)

The bottom line is that if the new RAM produces errors the original did not, it could be a compatibility issue, marginal quality RAM, or it could indicate an issue with the memory sockets.

It could be a number of things, but the place to start is with RAM certified to work on your system. If that doesn't work, you'll know it's likely a mainboard issue.

@ejn63 Also, forgot to add, one of the times i had 2 new planks, laptop didn't boot and gave me the 2 yellow 4 white signals, can it be just a simple compatibility issue, and if so, is it supposed to work with old ram in both single mode?

@ejn63 So, i don't know much about pc stuff and kinda just want to know before deciding what to do, CAN it even be a compatibility problem with a new stick, if said stick works fine in pair with the old stick, but doesn't run by itself?
