SSD not recognized in BIOS

Inspiron 15 5584

Inspiron 15 5584

My pc all of a sudden crashed and said that windows had corrupted files or something. Anyways, I decided to reinstall windows since I had everything backed up. Tried to do it, but I simply could not get into the Windows installation screen, even tho I had formatted the SSD. All I got was the screen shown below, but without the "F10 option", only being able to go to BIOS or press enter to try again. I tried all 9 options, and nothing happened, only came back to the same screen.

I imagined it was a problem with the SSD, so bought a new one to try it, since it was already a small one for me anyways. Still the exact same issues. Have tried using an USB with windows 10, windows 11, windows 10 made bootable through RUFUS, windows 11 made bootable through RUFUS, and still, not a single time I got to the windows installation screen, where you choose the language and etc.

Besides, my SSD does not show up in BIOS as one of the boot options, which I think may be the problem. The usb with windows always does, but the SSD does not. It does appear as the "Sata-0" connection, which means it is working, right? But the boot options screen is blank, with the USB stick unplugged, and only shows up the usb stick when it is plugged. I have tried messing with almost all the possible BIOS settings, like secure boot, RAID or not for storage, etc. Since this model does not support Legacy Boot, this solution that I have seen all over the internet, is not possible. Anyone knows something that might help??

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dell Community @rafalcard

At the "Option Boot" screen, does it have the option " Change Boot Mode Settings"

If so, choose that option and then just hit enter for all.

Hey, unfortunately it does not

Do you know anything else that I might be able to do?

Thank you!

Firstly, I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key, then click on Search bar.

2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

3. Then click on View All on the left panel of the screen.

4. Click on Hardware and Devices.

5. Click on next and follow the instructions.

If the issues still persist, refer to the below methods.

Secondly, I would suggest you to try to check for the status of the drive in the device manager.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.

3. Expand Disk Drive. If you are able to find the driver for the external drive.

6. Then again right click on the driver and click on Properties.

7. Check the device status of the disk.

Kindly reply with the information, so that we can resolve the issue.
