Usb port not functioning properly

Question

I had bought a cooling pad two months and i use it for gaming. During gaming the usb part gets hot, so the ports where i have plugged the cooling pad seem to be not functioning properly, like i need to adjust the cable for it to function, i tried in an other port and it worked fine, i plugged in my mouse to the defective port to check what the problem could be  and the mouse had the same issue, how do i fix this? Or avoid the heat for the usb.

The thing is the ports where i plugged in the cooling pad don't work which is two of three don't work. Since the third port is still working , it's safe to continue use right since i wont be able to get a motherboard and i might just get a usb hub instead.

Yeah I'm not using that cooling pad anymore, it's just really frustrating.

When i connect my mouse in the port i need to position in such a manner that it would work but its just useless doing that.

Unplug the system, disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. Use a bright light to check inside the USB port for bent pins -- you may be able to bend the pins back into place to restore the function of the port.

DO NOT try this until the power - both DC in and battery - is disconnected.

The cooling pad could be the source of the problem if it's drawing too much power.  Do other devices work on those ports, with that cooling pad disconnected?

An USB 2 port can supply up to 500 mA. An USB 3.0 port can supply up to 900 mA. An USB 3.1 port can supply up to 3000 mA   Using a USB hub is fine for simple things like USB flash drives.

Will harddisk with 3.0 SS work fine on a compatible usb hub?

Very few shops do board level repair any longer, and you will almost certainly find that the labor charge -- if a repair is even possible -- will be a significant percentage of what a board replacement will cost. If you have such a shop nearby, you can see if they'll estimate the repair cost. The problem is that it's unlikely the port is the issue - rather, it's a power or short somewhere. In that case you'll find that the skilled diagnostic work plus the repair cost will likely wind up being a couple to a few hundred dollars.

I think that if you have destroyed 3 of your 4 USB ports with that cooling pad that I would discontinue using it!

One pin in both the ports seems to have been bent into the port, checked with the working port, I'll post as soon as i try fixing it.
