OneFS 8.0 and x200

HI experts !

Anybody know if my customer wants to use OneFS 8.x , it would be better to chose s210 instead of x200 ?

I would like to know if there is any comments or Doc to convince customer to chose Gen5 Hardware ( S210X210X410)

when they want to use OneFS8.x..

thanks !

OneFS8 is compatible with X200 and S210.

Of course a S210 ist better than a X200 but this is Independent of the OneFS release. The Hardware specification is just completely different.

If they don't have any performance issues or planned growth of workflows / load it is just a bad consult to tell them to switch hardware because of onefs8 migration.

furthermore the "correct" successor for X200 would be X210. S210 is a completely other target /workflow audience.

In case you would consult me as customer to switch hardware because of onefs8 migration I would tell you to leave and not come back.

And of course it is a question of the budget.

Because the S-series is much more expensive with less storage capacity than X-series nodes.

well isilon is scale out so instead of your 3 X200 nodes you could just acquire 10 S210 Nodes to get the same capacity (example, real numbers may differ)... and the sales team is also happy!

sluetze and Phil

Thanks you so much for the advise ... I would talk with them bit further as they have some IOPS issue

on OneFS8.0 with x200 .

The best bet would be X210 .. I guess mmm

thanks !
