Cannot change Right/Left buttons on mouse after installing Touchpad drivers

I installed new drivers for my touchpad to prevent my cursor from jumping around while typing. However, now I cannot change the Right/Left buttons on my MOUSE anymore! I can, on my touchpad, but not on the mouse.
I tried to reinstall drivers specifically for my mouse, even tried chosing a different type of mouse driver (brand) but the option to change the buttons stays grey (unclickable)

I have win2000, touchpad drivers are Synaptics Touchpad V4.3 (touchpad properties version 5.0.56 20 jan 2000) and a USB Microsoft mouse (tried also with Logitech drivers but that doesn't make a difference)

Does anybody know what to do?

Thanks in advance + regards,
Aiam

Aiam,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Unfortunately, not all mouse drivers are compatible.  There have been problems between Microsoft Intellipoint and Synaptics drivers for a long time.  You may have to choose one or the other.    First, make sure that you have the latest versions of both drivers.  You may want to try the latest drivers from Synaptics website.

You probably need to completely uninstall both the Synaptics and Intellipoint drivers.  Then try installing the latest versions of both and see if they are compatible.
