How to turn NumLock off on laptop bootup?
I have a Latitude D630 with a docking station setup and a full size keyboard.
When I boot up my laptop with it docked, it does so with NumLock set ON - which is how I want it.
However, when I boot my laptop up without the dock, the NumLock is still set to ON. This is annoying since when I try to type on the keyboard, instead of showing U, I, O, J, K, L, etc.., I get the numbers instead. I then have to press the NumLk button to turn it off.
I have already gone into the BIOS and turned OFF NumLock but that does not do anything.
Can anyone tell me how I can turn NumLock OFF on laptop operation but NumLock ON when docked?
I am running Windows XP

Hi, bubbadubba.
The numbers on U,I,O,J,K,L has nothing to do with Num Lock.
It is to do with FN key, go back to the Bios and look for it.
you should be able to change it from the FN Key Emulation.
Good Luck.

Hi AppleSoup.
Thanks for your response. Didn't realize that you did since I thought I had email alerts set whenever someone responds to my post. I guess I didn't.
Anyway, the FN Key Emulation makes sense to control the laptop keys U, I, O, J, K, L. However, when I went back into BIOS and changed it from "Off" to "ON". That didn't work. I switched it back to "Off". That didn't work either.
Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks!
