Vostro VS Latitude the REAL difference for mobile worker?

I am looking at buying a new laptop for one of the people in our company who travels quite a bit.  I'm trying to decide between a Latitude and a Vostro. Since I seem to be able to get just about all the same features on both - I'm trying to determine what the BIG difference is in the two.  She doesn't need or want a docking station or to connect a monitor - so that part of the Latitude we don' t need.  Traditionally we've gone with Latitudes or Inspiron's but i've recently purchased two Vostro's and found them to be nice Laptops.  I'm wondering what the REAL difference is since the price is lower obviously.  They seem just as sturdy as the Latitude?  I'd like some opinions on this since I am pretty much novice on hardware.

Thanks!

I always thought Inspiron was the consumer model, and that Vostros were simply renamed Inspirons....

Latitudes are the true business class machine. While specs may be similar, I have heard that Latitudes are generally more robust and solid.

Precision Mobile > Latitude > Vostro > Inspiron

A clue is to look at the *standard* warranty that comes with the laptop.

My employer buys only Latitudes and occasionally the more expensive Precisions.

The Vostro line is still the "lesser" of the two no matter how you want argue it.

Dell came out with the Vostro line which has the lesser technical support. As I wrote above, compare the standard warranty that is included.

Also, if you go to dell.com and then select Laptops and Tablets from the dropdown menu For Large Enterprise, the Vostro is not listed.

The E2100 is more a "netbook". I'm not sure who Dell thinks will buy it.

Vostro: especially designed for small business, budget-friendly

Latitude: best-in-class business performance

If you read between the lines, Dell has answered your question.

So you're saying that a vostro would be more a business machine than a latitude?

You're confusing the Latitudes with the Inspirons.

I have not argued in favor of One or the other.  Nor did I say Lesser or Better.

I merely pointed out the "additional colors" then being told that I was confused.  I am not.

:emotion-3:

They are priced in the order listed on the business portal with Vostro Being the Budget Friendly Version.

I am neither confused Nor wrong about the Additional Colors.

ISVs are trying their best to change the enterprise dilemma of “build vs. buy” to a Buy decision. Enterprise buyers are becoming more knowledgeable, making it increasingly important for ISVs to pay far more attention to their needs. New features, total cost of ownership, scalability, flexibility, usability and robustness have gained importance as influencers in the buying decision.   You pay top dollar for the Precision Line.

The original post ask which was "better".

You were the one who posted that the Vostro was "business model" implying that it was better and that the Latitude was inferior by declaring it to be a "consumer model" which is completely untrue in Dell's eyes.

I was merely bringing it back to what the OP was asking.

In Dell's parlance, "consumer" is not as good quality as "business".

I disagree with both statements.

Multiple Colors tends to be K12 school marketing and Business customers do not always support

bright colors aka the Darth Vostro Black.  Inspiron 910 in pink and white and other colors vs the Vostro A90 Black only.

I have not found any particular line of Dell to be "not as good" let alone "inferior" nor have I stated as such in the post.

It would appear there is an axe to grind or some agenda but I do not accept the interpretation nor

grant the license to the derogatory remarks.
