Dell Latitude 5480 touchpad clicker problems
I bought a Dell Latitude 5480 on eBay where the seller did not list that the touchpad clicker was not working. The touchpad itself works and moves, but the left clicker both underneath and above the touchpad does not work. Right click does however. It does not click in the BIOS or in Windows. I have to use a wireless mouse in order to left click in both BIOS and Windows. Is this a hardware or software issue and is there any solutions without replacing the clickers? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Check the condition of the battery, which is below the touchpad. If it shows sign of swelling, remove it immediately and dispose of it properly.
It's very common for touchpad issues to be the first sign of a swollen battery.

@ejn63 I removed the battery and it plugged it in, did not fix the issue.

Was the battery intact or swollen?

In the absence of another issue, replace the palmrest.

@ejn63 you can't just replace the touchpad clickers?

It doesn't look like they're separately available -- you may find them on EBay, but the low cost of the palmrest assembly and the fact that the labor will be the same either way means it'll be simpler and faster to replace the palmrest.

I think I will just end up replacing the buttons due to the fact it's cheaper and from the videos I saw, you don't have to take apart the entire laptop to do so. Thank you for the help tho!
