E6520 stuck at splash screen

Hello there,

With my Latitude E6520 I have switched the boot option, in the boot menu from legacy to UEFI. From then on, I cannot boot, as the PC freezes at the splash screen. It shows that it recorded F2 or F12 presses, but nothing happens further. My BIOS version is A22.

Here a picture of the problem- F12 was pressed.

What could be the case for this and can I resolve the problem anyhow, or is the PC bricked? I would appreciate all help.

Welcome to the Dell Community @bremen-pl

Switch back to Legacy.

If it does not boot you will need to reload the OS.

And NO the laptop is not bricked.

Hi, thank you for the answer. The problem is I can neither enter bios or boot menu. The PC is stuck at the screen shown in the picture.

@bremen-pl

Power-on and start tapping the [ f2 ]  or  [ f12 ] key.

If that does not work then remove the Main battery and disconnect the BIOS/CMOS battery.

Connect the AC and power-on for 3-5 seconds.

Disconnect the AC and reconnect the BIOS/CMOS battery.

Install the Main battery.

Now try and enter the BIOS again.

Hi, Thank you for the tip. I did as instructed:

1. Remove both batteries:

2. Connect AC power adapter

3. Turn on the PC. The power LED turned on for a second and turned off. I had to press the button again for the PC to boot.

4. PC booted and was stuck on the splash screen again. I have waited some time and turned it off.

5. Connected the batteries back.

6. Turned on the PC and pressed F2. The pc was stuck on the splash screen again:

Is there anything else I can try?

@bremen-pl

First remove the HDD and see if you can get past the SS and into the BIOS.

If that does not work;

Leave the HDD out and try one stick of memory at a time, while trying to enter the BIOS.

Hello,

I have 2 disks installed (one via main slot, the second one via DVD caddy). I have removed both and tried to boot, but without success.

What do you mean by this?

@bremen-pl

Leave the HDD's out and have only one stick of memory in.

Try to boot and go into the BIOS.

Then remove that stick and insert the other stick of memory.

Try to boot and go into the BIOS.

Any change???

@bremen-pl

In the picture you posted there are 2 memory slots with sticks of memory installed in both.

Remove one and try to boot to the BIOS.

If that does not work remove the one and try the other.

Hello,

I have removed the RAM memories. Then tried to boot without HDD's and main battery, but could not (battery and wifi LED's blinking). I inserted the memories back and booted, but stuck at splash screen again...

Welcome to the Dell Community @DJHorse96

Hold down the "D" key, push the power button, release the power button, wait 2-3 seconds and release the "D" key

The laptop should go through an LCD test of solid White, Red, Green, Blue and Black 2 or 3 times.

After completion it should try to automatically boot 2 or 3 times.

Post your results.

Best regards,

thanks for the tip

sadly it didn't work

I tried it and the screen went through the color cycle and did one or two reboots eventually going back to the bios screen and locking up again
