Latitude 7370 screen display alternates normal to pattern restart clears problem

My screen alternates between normal and a specific pattern intermittently. Running Windows 10 professional OS. Only happens once a week or so. Updated all drivers and bios, checked monitor internal connections. I started task manager, and cmd prompt and the issue was still present. Moved monitor position to be sure it's not a bad cable. Also started up a Win 7 in in a virtual machine. Still had the problem. To clear it I restart the system, not power off, only restart. and the error goes away. usually for several days until it pops up again. I also just replaced the battery, that was the only error that showed up when running Dell Diagnostic Support full 40 min test. Anyone seen this before? It's been happening about 6 months now.
