Latitude D830, WiFi problem

Latitude D830

Latitude D830

I pickup this previously owned 17 year old Dell Latitude D830. It came originally with Vista Pro. When I got it Windows 7 was installed. I have since upgraded to Windows 10. Increase the RAM to 4gb. The internal Wi-Fi card was not working. I check in the BIOS and it did not list it, nor did it show up in device manager. So i upgraded the Wi-Fi card to an Intel 4965AG. Once I installed it still does not show up in the BIOS or device manager. Can anyone offer a fix. I am using a NetgearWNA1100 USB Wi-Fi adapter presently. Thanks in advance.

Hello, @DBarnwell

To resolve the issue of your Intel 4965AG Wi-Fi card not being recognized in the BIOS or device manager on your Dell Latitude D830, you can try the following steps:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup. Look for a setting related to wireless or network devices and ensure it’s enabled.
  • Sometimes, resetting the BIOS to its default settings can resolve hardware recognition issues.
  • Make sure you have the latest driver installed for the Intel 4965AG card. You can download it from the manufacturer’s website.
  • Run a Windows update to ensure all system drivers are up to date.
  • In Windows 10, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset. This can help resolve network adapter issues.
  • Some older laptops have a BIOS whitelist that prevents the use of certain hardware. If the Intel 4965AG is not on the whitelist, it may not be recognized by the system.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can tell me I am happy to help you.

Best Regard,
