Sorry of this rambles a bit, I'm putting together info from many sites, and can't see much of my post in this screen, have to scroll up and down a lot, so might duplicate some info...
In case you haven't done this, it SHOULD be possible without a cable upgrade, if you are upgrading to a NON-TOUCH FHD panel. All non-touch FHD panels use a 30-pin connector on the display side. The touch display uses a 40-pin on the display side. But it should also be possible to install an FHD TOUCH panel with the corresponding 40-pin cable. Take a look at the connector on your motherboard.
See this pic - You can see the CPU just right of center in the picture, it is green. Above it is the long, thin display connector. On my 5580, there are small tick marks printed on the motherboard every 5 pins, so it's easy to see it is 40-pin on the motherboard. The cable connector has a small bracket bolted down over it, you can see the screw standoffs to either side of the cable connector in the pic.
It's easy to see by just removing the bottom cover of the laptop. Remove the bottom cover and look for the metal cover over the cable end. You don't even have to remove it, just look at the "bottom" (in the orientation shown in this pic, the battery will be closest to you) of the metal bracket and if there are small white lines spaced evenly, count them. If there are 8 on yours, that should mean that the motherboard has 40 pins whether touch or non-touch, and a touch panel can be added with the right cable with 40 pins on each end. If yours has 6 tick marks (I doubt it), then that means the non-touch motherboards use a 30-pin connector, and you can only upgrade to other non-touch panels.
That picture is from a 5590 motherboard with Intel graphics, but the pics for the ones with NVidia graphics also show a 40-pin connector, and I've seen listings for FHD Touch 5580s with NVidia graphics, so 5590s likely work the same.
This pic shows the NON-touch 748W1 display cable - That very much looks like a 40-pin connector on the motherboard side (bottom connector) and a 30-pin on the display side (top connector).
This pic shows the TOUCH 70M1W display cable -
That pic and the others for the listing look like a 40-pin connector on the motherboard side and a 40-pin on the display side.
Let me know what you find out, I'm curious, as I may want to try to find a cheap HD 5590 in the future if I can swap my 5580 FHD Touch panel over to it. The 5580s and 5590s are virtually identical other than CPU generation, the touch screen part numbers are the same, so it should be possible IF the 5590 motherboards with non-touch panels still have a 40-pin connector, which everything I've found this morning points to it having.

Yes, that is an option. You may need a new wiring harness for the screen as well. This upgrade WILL void your warranty, if you have one.
