New XPS 13 display options
Hello,
I want to buy a Dell XPS 13 to use it for web development, with Windows and Ubuntu (mostly Ubuntu) and I'm stuck deciding between Full HD display non-touch and the UHD touch display.
Are there real benefits for having UHD + touch on a 13.3 inch display used for web development?

To clarify, neither the old nor new XPS 13 have a UHD screen. That would be unbelievable for a 13.3 inch display, and probably unusable on both Windows and Ubuntu! The M3800, however, does have a UHD display, but it's 15.6" screen.
The new Dell XPS 13 offers the option between an FHD (1920x1080) and a QHD+ (3200x1800) display. As gorgeous as a QHD+ display would be, you should be aware that UI scaling is a mixed bag in Linux.
You might not want to purchase the consumer edition, as there are significant problems with running linux on it. The Sputnik Team is in the process of creating a Developer Edition with Ubuntu support, but the details are still very vague.
Two weeks ago Barton reported that news would be available within a few weeks, but his most recent posting indicates that "soon" has become "more like, 'not so soon". It remains unclear whether the new Dell XPS13 will require a hardware revision for the developer edition. If it does, it might never be possible to have a seamless linux experience on the consumer edition.
Hopefully, Project Sputnik's next update sheds some more light on these issues.

Since the BIOS A02 update a lot of the problems are solved.
Concerning scaling, on ubuntu gnome 14.10 with a recent kernel everything works quite fine...
To answer the question of the topic starter, if you can afford it, go for the highest resolution. Your code becomes much sharper to read and you'll be able to display a lot of code lines on your screen (even though the display is only 13"). I used to have a 27" full hd monitor, now i'm working on a 25" ultrasharp monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, the difference is huge ;)

Thank you for your answers, helpful information. Still undecided, but more to FHD - I think should be enough. QHD has some downsides - is glossy, shortens battery life and price difference.
Maybe some of the users that already installed Ubuntu can share some insights.
About hardware difference, maybe this post will get an answer: en.community.dell.com/.../19624497
