XPS 13-9380, Dock D6000, Linux, DisplayPorts don't work
Hello all,
I have some issues using an XPS 9380 with Ubuntu 18.04 and the Dock D6000 from DELL. The HDMI display correctly works such as other features (usb, ethernet) but the display port does not work and I tested it on several screen (old and new ones) If anyone has an idea to make it works... Thanks .

The D6000 dock was never tested/validated by Dell on Linux. The D6000 dock driver page only shows Windows 7/8/8.1/10.

OK. However I found the solution for any Linux user who has both a Linux OS with a DELL Dock. You should install the DisplayLink USB Graphics software for Ubuntu and multiple display ports will work.

Hi,
re: D6000 was never tested with Linux.
Can you please check/explain official Dell D600 PDF guide (page 6): https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_docking_stations/dell-universal-dock-d6000_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf
Operating System: Ubuntu OS 14.04.2 or greater
So, is Linux supported or not?
JFYI, the manufacturing company "DisplayLink" completely ignores Linux bugreports on their forum:
https://displaylink.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29
Can dell clarify the situation here, or remove Linux from documentation as it is NOT really supported with such list of "limitations and known issues": https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/641668
I personally bought D6000 to use it with Linux as it was listed in supported operating system.
Thank you!

Hello
I'm facing the same issue. My env is XPS 13-7390, Dock D6000, two P2417H monitors and Ubuntu (19.10). XPS drivers, thunderbolt drivers and displaylink drivers (https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu) are installed. Monitors are connected via displayport. Everything works fine except for disconnection with monitors every hour or two. However while monitors are disconnected all other devices connected to the dock keep on working (tested). Will send any logs or specs if needed. Please reply

Same issue here with the same setting.
Everything works fine except that the monitor disconnect from times to times and I have to unplug / plug again the usb-c connector to get the screens back.
Note that the D6000 is suggested by the Dell shop when buying a xps 13 with Ubuntu.

Check https://github.com/displaylink-rpm/displaylink-rpm#dell-d6000
D6000 has a serious problem on Linux
Reproduced snippet.
//--------------------------------------
Dell D6000
When used with the Dell D6000 docking station, DisplayLink 5.1.26 regularly loses communication with attached monitors, causing them to go blank and enter power-saving mode. At the time the monitors blank, the kernel logs two error messages:
kernel: usb : Disable of device-initiated U1 failed.
kernel: usb : Disable of device-initiated U2 failed.
To work around this issue, disable power management for the audio device by commenting out a line in /etc/pulse/default.pa:
### Automatically suspend sinks/sources that become idle for too long
# load-module module-suspend-on-idle
//--------------------------------------
