Aurora R4 Legacy Boot mode
hey all,
i'm trying to reformat my aurora r4 and i heard i need to boot in legacy mode to be able to use alien respawn. however, after pressing F2 under the boot tab .. it wont let me change the boot mode from UEFI to legacy. Any suggestions on how or how i can completely reformat my desktop?

What OS did the Aurora-R4 ship with? You want to go back to that ... Win-7 or Win-8 ?
AlienRespawn is not supported on Windows-10. If you want to reload Windows-10, you can simply use the Reset Feature or clean-install from Microsoft.com Win-10 .ISO (burned to flash drive).

it was shipped with windows 8. Makes sense that AlienRespawn didn't work when i tried it. So you would recommend a clean-install of Wind-10?

Almost always. I mean, what's more thorough or better than that?
But you said you had already upgraded to Win-10, so take a look a Settings / Recovery / Reset.

Yes, I would because that is the only way you can get SecureBoot working. But if that is not a concern, then no ... you really don't need to. Win10-64bit will run in Legacy with SecureBoot off (but since it's UEFI capable, it should still BIOS-Post pretty fast).

Interesting. Well, that's not suppose to happen.
Sounds like you will be doing a clean install after all.
Better to start with a completely blank disk.
Fan are at likely at 100% because MIO-Board lost it's last on-board program. Nothing to worry about at this point.

after reseting it it went to a blue screen with the dialogue "your pc has been reset, but we couldn't remove all your personal files. If you plan to give away or recycle this PC, try resetting it again." and a button that says "Got it" but neither my keyboard or mouse work to click the button. So i had to shutdown the desktop by holding the power button. Now im back to that same screen and the fans sound like theyre working at maximum

If Dell DVD is a version of Windows you want to install, yes ... you can use that instead. I thought you wanted Windows-10.
If it's truly a "Resource DVD" ... then it just has old drivers. You can get the better newer ones from support.dell.com.

I will have to get the USB tomorrow after class if I have time. I'll let you know how it goes after I give it a try.
