memory upgrade- which slots?
Ok, im upgrading my RAM from 1 stick of 1gb to 2 of 2gb each....I have 4 slots available with 2 with white tabs and 2 with black tabs. Some people say the matched pair goes in 1&2 and some say they go in 1&3 or 2&4...Which ones do the matched pairs go in?

The slots having the matching colors are paired, so a matched set of memory modules would plug into the slots having the white tabs, and likewise for the slots having the black tabs. For best performance you need to install memory beginning with the first slot, which is usually a white tab, I think. If that is correct, the matching module would go into the slot with the second white tab.
EDIT: I see you have discovered it; great job!

Thanks Jack! Whats your take on the graphics card I bought that i was told would fit...it sort of does except on the back case slots....it sets slightly too far towards the top of the very top slot so therefore it wont fit into the tower. Any way that I can modify the case since the card itself would work? The card is a XFX Radeon R6770 core edition. I already upgraded the power supply to 600W and the memory to 4 gb...in the process of installing a new hard drive thats 1tb because the old one just died last night. Once i get the hard drive in I swear I am getting that graphics card in or else! LOL!

Your Dimension E521 has a PCI-e X16 slot for graphics cards. This is different from the other slots in your computer in that it includes a latch on the motherboard to help hold the card in place. You may be able to get a hint as to what is going on by studying the part of the service manual titled "Removing and Installing Parts". The service manual is here: Dimension E521 Service Manual.
