OptiPlex 745 NIC and RIS issue

Hello, Our current Windows XP Pro w/SP2 RIS image supports the following Dell systems: OptiPlex GX150, GX260, GX270, GX280, GX620, 745 along with the Latitude D410, D420, D610, D620, and the X1. The problem we're having is with the NIC drivers for the 745 - it supports the following systems only: D410, D610, GX280, 745. Has anyone out there been able to get the NIC drivers to work with other Dell systems? Any help would greatly be appreciated as we do have older Dell systems in our environment. Thanks, Rob

We are currently having a similar problem also. What is happening is that we created an image for the Dell Optiplex 745 machines that we had recieved and the install is posting an error message stating "The operating sytem image you have selected does not contain the necessary drivers for your network adapter. Try using another..." The image has been created with the drivers that were on the CD that Dell sent to re-install the drivers, and have been properly extracted. The .sif file has been given the paths to the drivers, and all RIS image creation steps have been followed to a 'T'. Through several attempts there has been no success in imaging these machines.

If anyone has a solution to this problem we would greately appreciate hearing from you.

Sean,

I ended up using the Broadcom drivers from Broadcom's website instead of the Dell version.  I've deployed the Boradcom drivers globally and it works for all Latitude laptops and OptiPlex desktops within our entire organization.  The driver version I used was version 9.81.0.0.D.  The only change I made with the .inf file is modify the following:

[Manufacturer]
%BRCM% = Broadcom, NTx86.5.1, NTx86.6.0, NTamd64

[Broadcom.NTamd64]

[Broadcom.NTx86.6.0]

to

[Manufacturer]
%BRCM% = Broadcom

[Broadcom]

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Rob
