Replacing Battery
Will I lose everything on my hard-drive when I replace the barrery?

no you will not lose any data on your HDD (harddisk drive) but you will lose the data in CMOS. so recored al your BiOS settings before removing it. then again if you are removing it because it is dead you have probably already lost your BiOS.

At the risk of stating the obvious, how about Notebooks? :)
But that was not the type of battery this question was about. All PC's have batteries (usually on the motherboard itself). How else do you think your PC remembers the date and time for instance if you turn it off?

What computers have batteries???All computers have batteries, or I should say battery.
It is mounted on your mother board and keeps your CMOS information. The battery also keeps the time, so if your computer displays the incorrect time, or loses time you may need a new one.It is usally a 3-V (3 Volt) CR2032 battery.
