When I start up my Dimension 8300 a message appears " system battery voltage is low"is this an item that can be easily replaced ?

You need to replace the small coin cell battery on the motherboard.
A 3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell is required, this can be purchased from a Radio Shack, WalMart, or most pharmacies.
