Vostro vs. Precision

Question

Can someone tell me the primary differences between the Vostro line and the Precision line of desktops? I've read all about both, and I can get what I want in either line, but the Vostro is much cheaper.  Is the primary difference the motherboard layout?  Also, can I get just a one year warranty on the Precision, and without a monitor, online, or do I have to call in?  This will be for home use, to replace a Dimension 4550 or an E510, as seen in my signature.   Thanks

Blindmelonball   The Vostro and Precision desktop computers are primarily business machines, yet can be configured to be home office friendly.   The Precision desktop is a professional work station designed for engineering, advertising, or scientific professionals that will spend many demanding hours at the computer for development of products or services. The Vostro is a lighter duty work station more specific to administrative, teaching / tutorials, document preparations. Both are considered to be plow horses but in different types of fields.   The descriptions above are not imply that these computers are not fast nor does it imply they are single task oriented because on the contrary they are very fast, energy efficient, and meant to be used daily. What they do not offer is a lot of fluff because they are business machines, not home game machines.   The Dell Precision WS (work station) is hands down a better machine than the Vostro 200 or Vostro 400 models. Why? The Precision offers more in upgrades and standard features such as power supply, larger chassis, and more processor and memory options than the Vostro line.   MD

...and a similar comparison in the Home & and Home Office line would be the Inspiron to the XPS? My needs are not for gaming, but for general browsing, email, some Office Applications, light photo editing and maybe some DVD authoring.
