Alps Touch Pad User Instructions

Has anyone found instructions/help file/user manual for the touchpad? I have looked everywhere on the Dell site; sent an email to support and called the 800 number with no success. The support tech tried to talk me through setting up the pad and could not. I talked to the supervisor and he is going to try to obtain info from Alps since he did not have any. Everyone seems to say we never use it. I use my 8600 in an RV with a GPS system and I can only use the touchpad. It takes approximately three trips across the pad to cover one screen. Is this normal? Can this be adjusted?  Thanks

wa3vez,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You will need to contact the manufacturer of your GPS for software configuration tips.

try going into your mouse/pointing device control panel, you should be able to adjust speed and turn on/off other special features in there.

you may need to download the newest touchpad drivers from the downloads tab above if this isn't present.

additionally if you have the touchpad icon in your system tray I recall that you may be able to access this control panel by right clicking on it.

I am not talking about my GPS software, they supplied an instruction manual and a help file.  I need INSTRUCTIONS for setting up the, Dell supplied, ALPS touchpad.

Thanks, I can easily access the mouse control panel. Take a look at all of the settings and adjustments in the software. I have found that most of them are not intuitive or easily understood. For example; how can I adjust the horizontal movement of the cursor so I don't have to traverse the touchpad 3 1/2 times in order to traverse the screen once?
