British keyboard layout

Hi, typical untechnical person here!

I have a Latitude D610.  The keyboard is the uk layout (i.e. the " sign is got with shift + 2, the @ is shift + '), but the system thinks it is a US keyboard.  Unfortunately, this means that these 2 keys are the wrong way round and I have no way of typing the pound (currency) sign, (usually shift + 3).  Anyone know how I can change this so that the computer realises it should have a british setup keyboard??

Thanks in advance

James

Windows was installed set up for US keyboard layout and settings. Assuming you have Windows XP, Start button > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages tab > Details button > Add button > Input language: English (United Kingdom); Keyboard Layout: United Kingdom. Delete the US keyboard layout afterwards. Set appropriate language and location settings in Regional Options and Advanced tabs in Regional and Language Options panel.
