CPU Upgrade D600
I have a 600m inspiron with a D600 latitude motherboard running a 1.7 Pentium M , SL6N5, RH80535, 400mhz FSB, 1mb L2 Cache, the cpu alias is banias, 479 Ball uFCBGA / 478 Pin uFCPGA.
Does anyone know if I can upgrade the CPU, and if so, how high can I go?

I found (with a lot of reading on these message boards) you can upgrade to:
sSpec# CPU Speed
SL7V3 2.10 GHz
SL7EM 2.00 GHz
SL7EN 1.80 GHz
SL6N5 1.70 GHz
SL7EP 1.70 GHz
SL6FA 1.60 GHz
SL7EG 1.60 GHz
SL6F9 1.50 GHz
SL7GL 1.50 GHz
SL6F8 1.40 GHz
SL6N4 1.30 GHz
I found this information at:

It is important that everybody know that the D600 and the 600M are Intel Pentium M
type processors, NOT the Intel Pentium 4 - M, or the
Pentium 4.
Package type MUST be 478, and the FSB (Front Side Bus) MUST be 400MHZ or it will
not work.

No. That's a mobile p4-m. No P4s work in the d600 - ONLY Pentium M CPUs or Celeron M will work.

I have a D600... It has a 1GHz CPU, very slow... I don't know what the SL6N5, RH80535 numbers for it are... I don't know how to find them???
I would appreciate it if U could help me... I would LOVE to have a 2.1GHz CPU like the other gentleman was speaking about... I know that I can swap them out, I've done it before on other laptops... I just don't want to buy a CPU that won't work in this laptop...

That's a 1.7 GHz CPU - if it's really running that slow, something is wrong - most likely with the system board.

UR correct... it does say 1.6GHz with a 100MHz bus speed and 400MHz FSB (Code Name: Banias)... Socket 479 Pentium M... i855GM chipset
That's what CPU-Z is telling me about it... So, it sounds like I can put a 2.1GHz CPU into it...
Does that sound Okay???
