Finding wide screen images for background
Hello all,
Well, I'm very impressed with my new Inspirion 8600, however, I am a Webshots junkie, so I was disappointed to see that my webshots images do not fit well on the wide screen. Does anyone know where I can download some photo images that would work with the wide screen?
Thank you!
Ingrid

The best thing to look for is wallpaper that have a resolution of 1600x1200. Those are the most common ones that come in such a large size. You can then take that picture into a photo editing program and then scale it to your resolution size. Not required though.
That site that I just provided has a ton of wallpapers. Also has a lot of other things that you can use to customize XP.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions! I spoke with a Webshots rep and they said that their current software does not support wide screen, but they will forward my request to their development team.
I found macdesktops to be very helpful - also found one on my own:
http://www.terragalleria.com
This has some very nice wide screen free photos, and also has a subscription part, too.
Now to have some fun with PSP and resizing!

A way around this is to use webshots and make the image you want be your wallpaper. Then right click on your desktop and go to Properties. Go to the Desktop tab to look at all your wallpaper. Webshots takes the image you wanted in the software to be your wallpaper and puts it in your C:\Windows directory as Webshotsfor and whatever your username is /w a bmp extension.
So you should see the Webshotsfor chosen as your wallpaper in the Display properties. Under the position dropdown box choose STRETCH and it will fill the whole screen. This will save you from having to resize the image or look for special wallpaper to fit a widescreen.
ALSO here is a little tip for you webshots people (such as myself) - Webshots v2.0 (the newest version) takes whatever image you set as wallpaper and digitally stamps the words webshots in the bottom right corner, so if you use webshots to store your images and picture, without separately having them on your hard drive it will be stamped with the word Webshots on the Webshotsfor.bmp file in your Windows directory. BUT, if you will use Webshots 1.30 or earlier it doesnt do this. So you can in fact download Webshots pictures, make them your wallpaper and it will have automatically exported into your windows directory as a .bmp WITHOUT the Webshots digital stamp. Webshots 1.30 also lets your drag pictures directly into the application AND set the picture as wallpaper just by double clicking on it. These features have been lost in Webshots v2.0. HOPE THIS HELPS!
