HELP!
I have a Inspiron N7010 purchased in October, so still under warranty. Whenever I either try to play a DVD or watch an online video clip the laptop shuts down and I have the bluescreen message 'Video Scheduler has a fatal error' and it closes the laptop - has anyone got any suggestions please?
Thanks
Gary

My problem is similar to the first post above. I also have a new N7010 (delivered beginning of December). With "youtube" video, screen just freezes, and I have to power off, but playing a video from DVD I get a blue screen error referring to the video scheduler, and the System Event Log after Restart has an item with source "BugCheck" which tells me param1 was 0x00000119 (this was also mentioned in the blue screen) and that a dump was saved in c:\windows\memory.dmp.
A crash like this that can be reproduced with 100% reliability ought to be easy enough for DELL to diagnose. Would anyone like to see the Dump?

Hi Guys,
This could be a problem with the video driver installed on your computer. Try the followings steps to resolve the issue.
1) Uninstall the video software from Add/Remove programs, Restart the system.
2) Try playing the videos and check if you have similar problems. If not well and good, either ways proceed to the next two steps and update your system.
3) Download and install the latest BIOS Driver HERE (FOR N7010 SYSTEMS ONLY)
4) Download and install the latest Video Driver HERE (Make sure you install the appropriate driver for your card)
5) Restart the system and then try again.
Let me know the results.

Ben,
At times there could be a conflict with the shared files used by the video drivers. Uninstalling/Reinstalling the driver will fix that issue.
Uninstall your video driver first
Restart the system, let Windows install your video driver using the basic driver.
Try youtube again. If you still have the same problem post the dump file.

I was puzzled by your instructions Telson: my Graphics card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, and I checked that my installed version of the Intel driver for this card is the latest one (8.15.10.2104) so I couldn't see any point in uninstalling it. But my installed System BIOS was certainly not the latest version that you released on 27 December 2010 so I downloaded and installed that, which forced a Restart. After that I tried UTUBE again and the laptop froze but after a minute or two I did eventually get a Blue Screen referring to the Video Scheduler, so as far as I can see there is no improvement. Any ideas? Would it help you so see the resulting dump?

Thanks for this reply. I uninstalled the video driver and restarted. The screen resolution was much lower, but I proceeded to youtube and it worked OK without crashing. You said "let Windows install the video driver using the basic driver" but as far as I could see it didn't do this automatically. Were you expecting it to? So I proceeded to run the R268991.exe (the Intel driver) that I had previously downloaded and in the middle of that it came up with an error message. The title was "Drv64.exe - Bad Image" and the text was "C:\Windows\systems32\IntcAuC.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error". When I acknowledged the error, it proceeded with the rest of the installation and my screen looked normal again (high resolution) and when I went to youtube the video still worked OK.
So something must have improved and I would be entirely happy were it not for that Bad Image error message, which sounds bad. What is the cause of it? What should I do about it?
Thanks,
Ben

Well Ben, as i stated earlier there could be problems with the Shared DLL files on your system, which were causing this problem in the first place.
I am not sure of the that specific error message though. I could relate to multiple versions of the files installed on the system.
I am glad that your issue has been taken care off. For now ignore that message. If it was fatal it would not have proceeded.
If u get any further problems try what i mentioned in the earlier post. Windows does install basic drivers. if for some reason it does not then run an windows update on the same. Windows will install the updates and u should have full performance.
Just a reminder. If you do uninstall the video driver again in the future, do a couple of restarts before reinstalling it again.
Do revert back if any questions.
Cheers,
Telson

Thanks Telson. I uninstalled the Intel Graphics video driver, rebooted twice, and still Windows Update (which is configured to run automatically) did not update my video driver. So I went into Windows Update, clicked Check Updates, and now it identified the need to update the Intel Graphics video driver. I did this, and it installed without any error messages, restarted, and still youtube and other video players work correctly. Incidentally the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Edition.
Thank you for your help. I hope what we've written here will help other users of new Inspiron N7010 laptops facing the same error when playing videos.
My conclusions for what they are worth are:
1. The System BIOS upgrade for N7010 released on 27 December 2010 was probably not the critical change. According to its documentation it was only necessary for a slightly later version of the I3 processor than the one I have, and even after I installed it, the video scheduler still didn't work correctly.
2. Whoever installed the Intel Graphics video driver before the laptop was delivered to me did something different from either of the two installation routes I have followed (i.e. installation by downloading from the Dell website and installation using Windows Update), or did it in a different order, which prevented the laptop from playing videos.
3. On my machine installing by downloading from the Dell website gave an error message (significance unknown) whereas installing using Windows Update gave no error.
