Latitude E6410 32-bit vs. 64-bit performance
Dear All,
Please advice. Few months ago I got E6410 with Win7HP 32-bit and WD-250GB 7200 rpm (Scorpio Black) hard drive. The machine was lightening fast. Few weeks later I had to replace machine and I paid for upgrades to Win7 Ultimate 64-bit and 500 GB hard drive which is Seagate 500GB 7200 rpm. The new machine is definitely feels slower. In general use it slower (opening the applications etc...) and during the boot it is much slower as well – at least 45 seconds extra until I get to the desktop.
Can anyone suggest what can be a problem (IF this is a problem) – I know that scorpio black line is one of the fastest drives available. But I do not know what else can make a difference in 45 seconds. The Ultimate version of the windows?
Thanks

How much RAM do you have? 64-bit Windows starts to come into its own at 4G - to really use it well, you need 6 or 8 G.
The other issue is that the Ultimate version loads quite a bit more in the way of services and graphical features - it will be slower than the other versions, all else equal.
