overclocking video card

there's no standard answer -- overclock it until you get the performance results you desire or until you start having problems.  if possible don't overclock it when you don't need the extra performance

Wow dude you're really nuts if you think your card is going to survive at those speeds. Nvidia posted the max for that card at 300 Mhz core and 600 Mhz mem. Since it's a laptop, it's clocked lower than that cause of heat issues. Real good overclockers cant even get it to go to the max Nvidia states so i DOUBT you'll get yours at 800 MHz. If you do then say goodbye to your card and/or complete system. The max i've gotten it with succesful results, is 245 core and 513 mem.

i think you must have gotten the wrong info... maybe the maximum that the program allows is that figure that you gave us, but not the card's maximum... actually there isn't any much improvements for the fx5200 even after overclocking, if there is any, you can only see it through benchmark scores, and in my opinion, overclocking kills your gpu and you really shouldn't do it. plus if the i5160 has the same chassis as the i5150, then the heat cooling solution is not too good, so you might wanna be careful with your overclocking.

Well the 5160 has the same 5150/5100 chassis but it has the improvement of having a HUGE fan and heatsink (maybe 2 or 3 times bigger than the 5150/5100), i know this cause i own both a 5100 and a 5160 and have gotten them both open. The only drawback i see is that now i have the hotter prescott processor so, i dont know how much an advantage i have gained.
