Sonic (XP) to Roxio (Win7) compatibility ?

It's not a "Roxio" problem as Roxio is only a CD/DVD burning program. 

It sounds like the method you used to burn the DVD is the problem.  It sounds like you use the Packet Writing method (Sonic DLA) to burn the DVD's and that is the most unreliable burning method (the Roxio equivalent in the new PC is Drag to Disc).   If you are making audio discs, whether CD or DVD you need to use the Audio Disc creation program, not the packet writing as that copies the songs over as "data" files and not "song files" which probably why Windows Media Player does not recognize them.

You may be able to copy the files from the DVD to a folder in the new PC using the Windows Explorer and that MIGHT work, just depending on what format and files you have on the DVD (if they are wav or MP3 files you should be OK copying them over).

I am using "Sonic  v.7 LE and MyDVD 6.11 LE". Will it let me use 'Audio Disk Creator' and if so how do I set it up. This is the first time I have used Sonic so I'm guessing all the settings are at default.

On the new Sudio when I load the DVD and open a folder to view files with Windows Explorer there is nothing shown except the disk name in the 'D' drive (left hand pane)

It still sounds like they way you created the disc is the problem. 

If you just want to copy your music files on to a DVD and then load them on the new PC, the easiest way it to create a "data" disc (CD or DVD) and just copy the muisic .wav or .mp3 files to the disc, then load the disc on the new PC and using the Windows Explorer copy them to a folder on the hard drive.  Windows 7 has a "music" folder already created in the "libraries" so you could just copy them to that music folder.

If you create regular audio cd's, you will need to "rip" them to the new PC's hard drive, and there is no need to do that when you can do the data disc as I noted, which will be a faster than ripping.

Sonic and Roxio (which is owned by Sonic) both use basically the same CD and DVD burning programs.  I don't recall exactly what they call each type of disc creation but "data" and "audio" are probably the same.  I used to use Roxio but had so many problems that I went to Nero.
