Switching back to a single laptop screen

I have a Dell 3800 Laptop and have been using multiple monitors connected via my docking station.  When I use my CAD program on the connected monitors, everything works great.  But when I go back to the single laptop monitor many of the dialog boxes that were on the connected monitors do not appear on the laptop screen.  The dialog boxes are not showing which seems to tell me that they are trying to go to the connected monitors that are NOT connected.  I need to see the dialog boxes on the Dell 3800!
