Touchpad and keyboard not working
The trouchpad and keyboard on my 2-month-old Inspiron 1520 laptop are not working.
Device Manager gives me a "this device cannot start (code 10)" error for the touchpad and a code 39 error for the keyboard.
Up-to-date drivers are installed and reported working in Windows.
I'm stumped.
Any thoughts? TIA.

Hi, I have the SAME exact problem. I can use a external mouse but keyboard and touchpad both don't work. I get the same error code by going into Device Manager--where the only yellow exclamation point is next to something called Intel ICH8M (which per a quick google search does not appear to be related to interface devices, but rather to hard drives).
I've tried the following things:
1. Disabling and reinstating the drivers for keyboard and touchpad
2. Searching for updated drivers for both
3. Uninstalling and trying to reinstall drives for both keyboard and touchpad
Nothing works.
4. I also tried running diagnostics and it shows all is a-ok.
Please help, I rely on that laptop for literally everything.
Take care and thanks for any help.
