2407WFP No Picture

Question

We have a 2407 that powers on but gets no picture. Unplugging this completely and trying other inputs brings up no picture. Switching between modes does nothing either.   Can you give me the procedure for either getting this serviced or contacting a live body over there at dell so I can return this and get a replacement? Nobody where I work is familiar with this procedure.

When your pressing the input button, are you seeing the VHA, DVI icons on the upper left? Disconnect all inputs and only have the power cord attached to the monitor. Power it on. What do you see?

No icons at all. The lamp in back comes on momentarily but shuts off right away. At no point is there any picture.

Nothing at all on screen. The green power light comes on and the mode light is on. You can switch between modes but no picture anywhere.

jcj1966, Call Technical Support at 1-800-624-9896. Give them the Order number and inititate an exchange.

I'm having the same problem with my 2407 A03.  I've gone through all the FAQ's and other links I could find and spent half the day trying to get this thing working.  Right now the monitor makes a beautiful, albeit huge, paperweight on my desk.  Finally gave up troubleshooting and called tech support.  They're apparently sending a new one.    Anybody else experiencing this problem, don't both troubleshooting too much.  Do the basics (power on/power off, swap cables (analog and DVI), etc.), then call tech support.    Guess it should have been a clue when the OSD wouldn't even come up, even though the power led is green.   Good luck.

I received my 2407 A03 last Friday (1 Dec). Having exactly the same problem.  Did notice a burning plastic/chemical type smell as soon as I turned it on the first time.  I had it connected exactly like the monitor it is supposed to replace, and no picture, just a black screen of death.  Tried both VGA and DVI connection with no luck.   Called tech support and they are supposed to send out a replacement.   Peter

I received my replacement monitor within 2 days, so kudos to Dell support on that one.  The replacement monitor seems to be working properly now (with no dead pixels), but I can't get the card reader to work.  That's unfortunate, but I can live with it (for a while).  I've been buying Dell LCD's for the last couple of years and they've been bulletproof.  I'm surprised at how many problems I'm having with this supposedly 'top-of-the-line' model.  I owned 2 17' NEC LCDs for over 4 years and never had an issue with them. Bought this 24' to replace them both...Now I'm having second thoughts.    Oh well.  Caveat Emptor.   Good luck, Peter.
