7 year old Dell monitor, how to connect?
I have a 7 year old Dell Monitor which has both a HDMI and a VGA port, but the new Dell desktop I'm going to buy only has an HDMI port. Can I just use the HDMI cable and not use the VGA cable for the monitor to work?

Seams a bizzar choice.
HDMI on laptop to HMDI on monitor seams the obvious choice. (and slightly better image quality)
Adaptors are for when you don't have compatable connectors

Yes, you only need to use 1 video input

@Andy K Thanks for that. After viewing a few YouTube videos I'm going to use the VGA cable and an adapter to go to HDMI... hopefully that will work.

@Andy K ...Once I buy my new desktop I'll be able to experiment with the different cables going to my old monitor... Cheers.
