DA305, DP out support daisy chain using USB C or DP?
Hello,
I've connected DELL P2719H monitor using HDMI output of DELL DA305 which is USB C connected to my DELL laptop USB C PD/DP port. I want to add additional monitor to my setup.
I'm aware DA305 does not support multi display when it's other display ports are used e.g display port. However, i want to know if i get a Daisy chain compatible monitor and have it connect to my 2nd monitor and have Daisy chain monitor connected to DA305 over it's USB C output or Display port.
Will it support multiple display using this approach.
Please if anyone had a setup like this or awareness that this approach going to work.
Thanks
Deepesh

If you are going to get another monitor, why don't you consider buying a dell P2722HE off Ebay which has a hub built in. (The E stands for Ethernet, but also has USB-C and hub). Use this as the main monitor. Get rid of the DA3XX.
This monitor can charge your laptop at 65W (let me know if that isn't enough), plug in your keyboard and M, drive another monitor via Display Port-Display Port all over one USB-C cable to laptop (use a Dell cable, available in short and long 1.8m)
Alternativly, if you want to stick with your DA305, there are various ways to drive a 2nd display by plugging in an extra cable to the laptop.
For example:
Use the HDMI port. This will run a 2nd monitor.
Use the 2nd USB-C port to a video adaptor (I used a USB-C to DVI sucessfully)
Use the 2nd USB-C port to a monitor that has USB-C input. E.g P2722HE or P2719HC (C stands for USB-C). You would want the long 1.8m USB-C cable in this case.
Yes it's a bit of a faff plugging in 2 cables, but I didn't use the 2nd monitor all the time, so it was ok

Thanks Andy for your reply.
My preference to go for only One cable to laptop and have connectivity with two monitors and other accessories. Also, i would to have experience of a 4K monitor now as an upgrade along side DELL FHD.
I'm aware of USB 3.0 to HDMI/Display Port adapter could be an option but i wanted to avoid it would work over data then conversion. Yes seems as of now this the option as i also want to stick to DA305.
Other option I've explored further was to go for a 4K monitor with Display port Alternate mode which get's source from laptop and other laptop USB thunderbolt port serves other monitor via DA305. only thing is i would need to connect 2 cables to laptop.
Other option I've come across was setting up a daisy chain with a monitor which has DP out but these monitors are not much available in budget range and the ones available from BenQ and Asus is 2k resolution. Also, I'm not sure if DA305 will support daisy chain.
Any other suggestion you may have please do share. thank you very much
