The ghosting issue on the 2407WFP

As far as I know, all revisions (including A03) display the ghosting issue with mousepointer over bright areas or scrolling of text and areas with high contrast. A pink or greenish afterglow will appear where bright(er) areas follow dark text (or areas).

Apparently, this can be tweaked somewhat by turning down the brightness; at brightness 27, several have reported virtually no ghosting, plus at brightness 48 the symptom is also less present. Possibly there are also tweaks with R,G,B values that help (can anyone verify this?).

It would be nice to really establish if this is a "feature" of the 2407, or if just a very large number of people have faulty panels (regardless of revision), and a few lucky ones have panels that don't have this at all.

It might also help the ones trying to return their panels for ones that work correctly.

Yes, a lot of people are pushing for rev. A04:smileywink:
all the facts has some posts on rough settings for the 2407.
Remember that with these monitors the setting of one value will affect
other values eg. brightness effects red, green, blue & possibly even contrast.
If you are patient & know what you are doing then you can get it to work well.
Do you own one yet? What are you using your computer for?
I have a different brand but I try to help out here with what I have read & general
knowledge of monitors/computers.

Yes, you have a point with the d-sub vs dvi.
Why are you yelling in 20 point fonts?
I am glad you are happy with yours & have got it sorted out but what I was saying about one setting effecting others just ask someone such as 'all the facts'. Once it is sorted then then great.
In case that you meant to yell, then sorry I was not pushing an agenda.

Since you are only using Analog and not DVI ( Contrast disabled in DVI ), just want you to know, that I get no pink or greenish after glow, and I have no issues with the pointer either using DVI. Have you tried DVI to see if you do, or are you limited to only Analog ?  I have no ghosting either with my pointer in a bright or white area.  My version is A03

Not yelling, just trying out the 20 point fonts  :smileyvery-happy:   I do believe yelling is using all caps. 
 
Of course you can use the drivers control panel to adjust the contrast, but did not think of that while I was yelling at you  :smileyvery-happy:

Yep, I've got one... my 3rd replacement so far.... First two were RevA02s with tilted feet and ghosting, current one is A03 with ghosting. All 3 have displayed identical problems with ghosting (pinkish/greenish trail).

I've lowered the brightness so that it's "ok" at the moment.. I haven't tried to just tune RGB to try to fix this problem.

Using it for some gaming, browsing, coding etc..If I only got rid of this issue it would be perfect.

Is a RevA04 announced? Is this ghosting issue acknowledged by Dell?

The main thing is we have got 24" wide screens, yay:smileytongue:
My monitor shows whispering far smaller than that:smileywink: I love this place as well, most people are very good - the other few hmmmn.
I am not going to bed as it isn't even mid day here in qld. australia :smileyhappy:
The only thing that gets me is vga, & the other modes other than desktop, & 1600x1200 should be better - come on A04 rofl.

 " When using DVI source, the contrast adjustment is not available ".


Do you have the blue ended connector connected on your video card ?  Or is it the white larger dvi cable connector only  ?  Not both, just one....

Actually, it's not strange at all.. it just means I've not had my coffee and I'm an idiot. Contrast is disabled, brightness not. My bad. Apologies... :/

So, what I should have said is that brightness affects the visibility of the ghosting in high-contrast areas...

Do you have this ghosting on your display, btw? Is a Rev A04 announced? Is this ghosting/afterglow that many people seem to have acknowledged by Dell?

Absolutely fascinating.   I do not see Contrast at all using DVI  ( DVI-D ) , only analog........:smileysurprised:
 
I do have a contrast setting using the video card driver however.

Don't worry, pax1, I sometimes forget my coffee as well, but I always hope no one finds out  :smileyvery-happy:    But, they do......
 
No ghosting on mine during normal applications, and two games ( Splinter Cell, and Comanche 4 flight sim )  Will try others to make sure.   No Rev 4 announced, and really don't know if Dell will exchange our monitors if we have them a long time, but one could only hope.  Thus far in Desktop Mode, I have only seen a very faint banding using the gray grandient test, but not using normal internet use, or normal applications.   No after glow either.  Wish there was a picture of it, so I would know what to look for.
