U2720Q, macOS, refesh rate, orientation
I have two very annoying issues that are occurring daily that I need help fixing. I am using two U2720Q monitors connected to my MacBook Pro via USB-C to USB-C cable.
MBP specs:
- OS: macOS Catalina v10.15.7
- Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
- Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
- Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
(1) Unable to change refresh rate
Daily, the cursor on my U2720Q appears to be lagging and each time it's because the refresh rate has changed from 60Hz to 29.5Hz. I go into the macOS display manager hold option and click "Scaled" to show the different resolutions. I then click "Show low resolution modes" which subsequently shows "Refresh Rate", however it is greyed out for one monitor but not the other. I have tried changing resolution to see if it "un-greys" but nothing helps. Turning on/off infrequently helps as well.
(2) Changing U2720Q orientation
Every morning I wake up for work to find both U2720Q orientation not what I had originally selected/configured. This usually occurs when waking from hibernation. I basically have to adjust it every day which is an absolute pain. I have used the process 'caffeinate' to prevent my system, monitors and all sorts from sleeping, but with with limited success.
Please help!
