Connection problem - Latitude to Netgear?
Hi, I searched and couldn't find the solution to my problem on the forum, so here goes...
This is related to my Latitude wireless card. Connecting to my Netgear router (WGR614 802.11g) is always fine once a connection has been established, but sometimes connection is not possible when my Latitude laptop comes out of sleep or from a fresh boot. Sometimes it works great... sometimes it won't connect even if I "diagnose and repair" the connection. The only solution I’ve found is to remove power from the router, and plug it back in.
I believe the problem is Dell related as it happened with both my Latitude D610 running XP (Dell 1350 WLAN (802.11b/g,54Mbps) and my Latitude D430 running Vista (Dell 1390 WLAN (802.11b/g,54Mbps). Both have updated drivers.
I’ve tried everything I know to try – searched all over the web with no success.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Have you tried disabling power management and Bluetoooth Collaboration on the wireless card by going into its advanced properties through device manager - network adapters - Right Click Wireless Card - Properties - Advanced Tab?

Do you have the latest firmware for your router?

No go. I had no connection after sleep... disabled what you suggested... no connection. Tried to diagnose and repair... no connection. Even after reboot, no connection. Unplugged the router and plugged back in -- connection!
volcano11, I just noticed the router firmware needs a slight update, I'll do that now and advise my findings.
Any other ideas?
Scott
